Welcome to Oswaldkirk and District Oil Syndicate (Oz Oil). Set up in December 2009 for the benefit of the villagers of Oswaldkirk, our aim is to buy heating oil in bulk so as to get a better price for our members.
It has proved so popular that we have expanded to take in 15 of the surrounding villages, including Ampleforth, Gilling East, Stonegrave, Hovingham, Scackleton, Sproxton, Wass, Cawton, Harome, Wombleton, Hambleton, Nunnington, Yearsley, Nawton, Pockley and Stearsby.
Oz Oil works well because, while we as a group benefit from a lower price than we would have to pay as individuals, the supplier benefits from the certainty of a bulk order, reliable customers, easier administration and more cost-effective delivery.
As it is run on a voluntary basis, there is no contractual relationship between the syndicate and its members.
Our job is simply to negotiate a price – we don’t get involved in any payment or delivery details, and we don’t personally get any benefit other than enjoying the same low price as everyone else.
Payment within 7 days of delivery. Some suppliers send postal invoices after the delivery.
