The Malt Shovel Inn The village pub is situated on Main Street. However, it is has been closed for some years. The brewery, Samuel Smith’s of Tadcaster, says it plans to re-open it at some stage.
The nearest active pubs are The Fairfax Arms in Gilling, and The White Swan and The White Horse in Ampleforth, plus the occasional “Pop-Up Pub” in the Village Hall
Milk and Newspapers

Village Shop
Oswaldkirk no longer has a shop or Post Office. The nearest Village Shop (it also serves as a Post Office) is in Ampleforth, 2.5 miles (4.0 km) west of the village.

Helmsley is our nearest market town and lies 4 miles (6.4 km) north of the village. Its modest size belies its surprisingly broad range of amenities. These include a gamut of food and drink retailers (both generalist and specialist) and a wide array of service providers; including
