March 2024 – Levisham

Date: Sunday 24th March 2024
Start: 11.30am
Meet: The top end of Levisham village near the pub
Length of walk: 4.5 miles
Lunch Venue: The Fox and Rabbit
Time: 3.00pm

This month’s village walk starts at the lovely village of Levisham just past Pickering off the A169. Kerbside parking is available in the village but it’s a popular spot for walkers so, if possible, car sharing is advisable.

The walk is about 4 and a half miles, starting in the village, across a couple of fields and then winding downhill to the valley following the North York Moors railway line, before returning along the valley and back up to the village. There is just one stile. The path is mostly dry although there are muddy sections (still navigable). For dog owners – there were sheep grazing in some areas and it is lambing time. Finally the walk does end with a short steep uphill climb along the road back up to the village however there is a good waiting spot for collection before the hill for those who would prefer to skip the hill.

Meeting point is at the top end of Levisham village near the pub but as we’re not eating at the pub it’s probably best not to park in their carpark. Start time is 11.30 am to allow a little extra travel time as it’s about a 35-40 minute drive from Oswaldkirk. Lunch is booked at the Fox and Rabbit for 3.00 pm. Sample menu and prices attached. There is no need to pre-order but we have promised the pub final numbers by Saturday 16th. I think you will all do this anyway but please bring a change of footwear as they don’t allow muddy walking boots.

Please can you let us know as soon as possible whether you will be walking and/or eating.

If you’ve any questions please just ask.

All the best
Rich and Sam
